PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT: Matside Rule 1. During matches and tournaments, parents and family are not allowed matside.
- a) A parent deemed a coach by the head coach is allowed matside to give instruction.
- b) A parent who has agreed to NOT give instructions may ask mat coach permission to be matside for photography purposes.
- c) A parent who has agreed to NOT give instructions and help the mat coach by keeping score may be permitted matside.
2. Parents will never speak to the referees, table workers or other tournament officials. If there is a problem parents will talk to the coaches. The coaches must be the ones to handle any conflict, let coaches do the coaching. 3. We realize other teams do not enforce these rules with their parents. Our coaches feel that parents coaching their children without working with all children in the practice room, is disrespectful to coaches that are working with the children on a routine basis. Children wrestle better if they hear proper wrestling technique called to them by their coach. 4. The coaches will give reminders but if it becomes a continued problem the head coach or committee officer will give a warning. 5. If you want to be involved, than be involved. (Read the "Coach, can you help us" story)
I will be a positive role model through my own actions to make sure my child has the best athletic experience possible. I will be a "team" fan, not a "my kid" fan. I will weigh what my children say; they will tend to slant the truth to their advantage. I will show respect for the opposing players, coaches, spectators and support groups. I will be respectful of all official's decisions. I will praise student-athlete in their attempt to improve themselves as students, as athletes and as people. I will gain understanding and appreciation for the rules of the contest. I will recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding move by either wrestler. I will help my child learn that success is oriented in the development of a skill, and should make a person feel good about themselves, win or lose. I will observe Bryan Youth Wrestling Clubs drug free and alcohol free policies during practice and contests. I will remember that admission to a wrestling event is a privilege to OBSERVE the contest.
Parent Pledge: As a Bryan Youth Wrestling Clubs parent, I acknowledge that I’m a role model and remember that athletics are experiences for kids that provide them positive traits to guide them through life. I will abide by the Bryan Youth Wrestling Clubs Matside Rule I will show respect for all other wrestlers, coaches, referees and spectators I understand what I say and what I do reflects directly on my wrestler, the club, and me.
As a Bryan Youth Wrestling Clubs parent, I hereby accept by responsibility of being a positive role model.\
